North Bay Antique Show
Feb. 13 & 14
The annual North Bay Antique Show and Sale happens February 13th and 14th at the Legion Branch 23. Dealers from across the province will be in attendance showcasing collectibles, furniture, fine china and more. Admission is $4, children free. The show runs Saturday, Feb. 13 from 10 to 5, and Sunday, Feb. 14, 10 to 4. For more information call 472-8560.
Le Carnaval des Compagnons
February 5th to 14th
Le Carnaval des Compagnons is set for February 5th to the 14th. Opening ceremonies are February 7th at Memorial Gardens starting at 1:00pm, followed by games and a family skate. Other activities during the week include concerts of all sorts, such Martin Deschamps, plus a games night, pancake breakfasts and traditional suppers. Carnaval buttons are on-sale now at Les Compagnons and at Caisse Populaire.

Haitian Relief effort
Last Tuesday, an earthquake in Haiti devastated the Country. They have no resources to rely on, so the only way for these people and all of the relief workers there to help is through donations. Rogers has donated $250,000…the Canadian government has offered to match donations from Canadians up to 50 million dollars, and you can be part of the effort. If you are a Rogers Wireless or Fido customer, you can send the text message “HELP” to 1-2-9-1 and you will have donated $5. They need so much there right now. 100% of the money will be given to the organizations who are distributing help to Haiti.
The Canadian Red Cross is currently accepting donations for the ongoing Haitian Relief effort. Donations can be made online at www.redcross.ca or through the toll free number 1-800-418-1111. Local donations can also be given at the Red Cross, North Bay Branch located on 1275 Main Street .Please note that the Red Cross is not engaging in door to door solicitation for Haiti at this time.
